1. The Problem & Legacy Pain Points
Rafique Autos operates a high-volume auto parts and motor spares retail counter in the UK. Their previous web-only POS crashed whenever local broadband fluctuated, causing severe checkout queues, lost inventory tallies, and customer frustration. Furthermore, traditional UK POS providers were demanding £150+ in monthly per-till licensing fees.
2. The Engineered Architecture
Principal Solutions Architect Muhammad Shoaib engineered a custom dual-tier architecture:
- Windows Desktop POS (.exe): Built with Electron and an embedded local SQLite database engine. Every sale, barcode scan, and inventory change writes to local storage first, guaranteeing zero latency.
- Android Staff Companion APK: Allows floor staff to scan stock on mobile devices, check live shelf quantities, and ring up draft customer baskets.
- Autonomous Cloud Sync Bridge: As soon as internet connectivity is active, a Node.js WebSocket background worker quietly synchronizes transactions across all tills.
